Completed Projects

Whitehall Township placed a large quantity of birdhouses across their township and the natural areas within it. These birdhouses had been crucial components to particular species of birds staying in the Lehigh Valley. However, as time went on the vegetation surrounding current bluebird and swallow birdhouses grew. This impeded birds access to almost every birdhouse in the community.  We removed the vegetation to make a better habitat for the birds.  In addition, some bird houses were installed in an area that desired species would not use.  We removed these birdhouses and replaced them, allowing them to be used elsewhere.

Riparian Buffer Repair for Wayne A Grube Park

A riparian buffer is a vital part of local ecosystems. They are strips of vegetation around streams that allow for water filtration and habitats while also preventing flooding and soil erosion. However, many of them have been cut down. Organizations like Wildlands Conservancy have attempted to repair these by planting new trees. In this case, these trees were being attacked by invasive species. In an attempt to resolve this, we assisted in a process of invasive species removal through placing and repairing the tubes that guarded saplings and performing maintenance on the weeds surrounding the trees, identifying and removing any invasive plants.

E-Recycling Day

A core issue facing our community was the littering or mismanaged disposal of electronic trash. This went against our principles of sustainability and supporting nature. In an effort to resolve this, we partnered with Whitehall Township. We assisted running a valuable support initiative for the township, providing manpower for the initiative. Ultimately, we were able to assist in the recycling of hundreds of pounds of electronic waste and serve our community.

In an attempt to resolve this, we assisted in the process of invasive species removal through placing and repairing the tubes that guarded saplings and performing maintenance on the weeds surrounding the trees, identifying and removing any invasive plants. This was a continuation of our ongoing partnership with Wildlands Conservatory in this mission.

Whitehall Township Barn Cleanup

Developed in conjunction with Whitehall Township

Whitehall Township had previously used a barn for storage of construction materials. These supplies were crucial to Whitehall’s environmental works. This barn was in extremely poor condition and therefore the township needed to remove the materials in order to clean and repair the barn. We were able to remove these materials so that an inventory could be taken and so that the facility could be properly cleaned. Through this we enabled the long-term stability of future environmental works with the township,
